Language for Change

"My name is Sizwe Nkosi, I was born at Baragwanath Hospital and I live in Jabulani, Soweto. I live with my mom, my sister and her three children - two girls and one boy. The oldest two children attend school and my sister has a piece (casual) job while my mother looks after the youngest. I call him "Mashmash".

Every day, I wake up and go sell art at Hector Pietersen Museum. I collect art from the artists, then I sell it to the tourists. That's my daily job and I'm a bread winner at home.

Since coronavirus has started I stay at home. I usually don't have anything to do since I've stopped working. So I've decided that I will teach people to speak Zulu, my language. You are welcome to share with me anything you would like to know about Zulu, and I will share my knowledge with you. Thank you!"

You can support Sizwe by signing up to receive his short video clip (2 mins max.) lessons explaining one Zulu word, on a daily basis.

There will not be a set cost to participate, so it is up to you to decide what you would like to give in exchange for the service.

Please email eluminationsa@gmail.com to sign up.
